School leaders lead delegation to visit Jiangmen City to explore entrepreneurial and employment opportunities

On November 7th, Associate Vice President Chan Chon Pat led a delegation to Jiangmen City to visit the Entrepreneurship Center and well-known enterprises, inspect the entrepreneurship and employment environment in the Greater Bay Area, and explore more future opportunities for urban university students in the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area. The members of the inspection team also include Zou Chenchong, Director of Student Affairs, Tan Zhenyu, Administrative Director, and Zhou Qianyan, Head of Alumni Association.


The inspection team first visited the Zhuxi Advanced Industry Excellent Talents Entrepreneurship and Innovation Park (Double Innovation Park) and was warmly received by Wu Keyong, a member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Jiangmen Human Resources and Social Security Bureau. The inspection team first visited the supporting facilities of the park, including the service center, roadshow hall, and shared spaces. Afterwards, the two sides held a discussion on youth innovation and entrepreneurship, higher education, and talent policies, exchanged views on how to encourage talents to settle in the Greater Bay Area, and proposed specific plans to strengthen cultural exchanges and deepen cooperation between the two places. They also set a schedule for the innovation and entrepreneurship activities to be jointly held in the two places. During the discussion, Vice President Chen Chan Chon Pat emphasized that Macau and Jiangmen share a common heritage and can complement each other's resources to achieve differentiated development, highlighting their unique environmental advantages and attracting talents to settle and develop.


Also in attendance at the symposium were Li Yujun, Director of the Employment Service Center, Li Baogen, a fourth level researcher from the Education Bureau, Yang Jianting, a teaching and research officer from the Education Bureau, and Chen Shan, General Manager of the Double Innovation Park Operation Center.


The inspection team then visited the factory and experience hall of Macau brand Pancake House located in Xinhui on the fifth day of October, to learn about the traditional craft industry's use of industrial technology upgrades, combined with Macau's cultural and creative elements, to create a well-known food brand far and wide. It demonstrated how Macau enterprises can take advantage of the development opportunities in the Bay Area and tackle new challenges.


At the end of the trip, the CityU delegation visited the production base of the century old ethnic sauce brand, Lee Kum Kee, located in Xinhui Qibao. They visited the "Century Flavor" exhibition hall and one of its production lines, witnessed the huge production scale that can supply to all parts of the world, learned about the legendary Chinese enterprise's development process spanning three generations, experienced the corporate spirit of "Si Li Zhi Ren" and "Forever Entrepreneurial", and deepened their understanding of this international brand with deep roots in Macau.


Zhuxi Advanced Industry Outstanding Talents Entrepreneurship and Innovation Park is a public platform for mass entrepreneurship and innovation built by Jiangmen Human Resources and Social Security Bureau and managed by Jiangmen Employment Service Center under the support of Guangdong Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security. It is located in the High tech Innovation City of Jiangmen National High tech Zone, with a floor area of about 18800 square meters, and was put into use in 2019. It is targeted at high-level talents such as Hong Kong and Macao youth, doctors and postdoctors engaged in entrepreneurship and innovation, overseas Chinese youth and returned overseas students, outstanding university students and highly skilled talents.
